ABOUT SREE

FROM A-Z

me to introduce myself. I’m Sree (Sreelakshmi for those of you feeling adventurous). I’m a UX/UI designer with full stack experience looking for opportunities coming my way after obtaining my certificate in UX/UI Design from the University of California, Irvine with skills in Interface Design, User Experience, Design Thinking, Visual Design, and Front-End Development.

Allow

moving to design, I was a software engineer, having graduating with a BS in

I admitted to myself that I needed to make a change, and it was now or never. I remembered a User Centered Interface Design and Development elective I had taken in college, and how I had done well and found the subject really interesting.

Finally

my courage, I took a leap of faith and quit my job to dive into the field of UX/UI design

If I was really going to do this, I was going to throw my full effort into it.

delight, it had paid off. I had finally found the

of work that played to my strengths. Despite wanting to step away from software engineering, I had always liked coding. I started learning it when I was a freshman in high school. What I liked about coding and data science was being able to solve problems and come up with creative solutions to reach an end goal. I enjoy analyzing information and data provided to me and synthesizing my findings into something meaningful.

Kind

I was able to indulge in my creative strengths that had been unacknowledged for years. I like being creative and making art, I like writing, and most of all I love working with people.

Likewise,

different interests were finally able to come together and meet in the middle with UX/UI design, and I couldn’t be happier. UX/UI design was at the

Nexus

top of creativity, the mindset I developed as an engineer informs my approach to design by striving to create logical, clean, and intentional solutions. There is reason and structure behind every decision. Every choice must be

and justified. Finding elegant solutions to complex problems starts with the basics. You have to first determine the root cause of an issue then reason (and iterate) until you find the most logical and efficient solution. I even dusted off my calculator because I realized that there is a relationship between aesthetics and math. The use of geometric patterns and basic notions of perspective and symmetry contribute to making something visually pleasing, as well as improving usability with clean and clear designs.

Purposeful

my job was probably the riskiest decision I made in my life, but I’m really glad I did. Design has been an exercise in creativity set on the stage of tech. I feel like I’ve gotten a second chance, and it’s nice to be able to dedicate myself fully into something and be proud of my work. Through the course of the bootcamp, I was also able to
